DESCRIPTION:POST APPROVED 8 Credits – F- 10668-00019 & C- 10668-00002 \nFoundational – Report Writing and Courtroom Skills\nThis course is directed towards members of law enforcement who want to master foundational skills needed to perform their sworn duties. Whether you are a new officer who has joined law enforcement in the last five years\, or an experienced officer wanting to hone your foundational skills this course will provide useful tools and engage participants with policing and knowledge. \nObjectives: \n\nUnderstanding the importance of writing police reports;\nDiscussing best-practice methods utilized in courtroom testimony;\nGrasping the complex criminal court process; and\nLearn about the importance of resilience moving forward in their profession.\n\nComplete reports and strong & articulate courtroom testimony not only lead to more convictions\, but also protect each officer throughout the criminal court process. Participants will hear from experienced prosecutors who will utilize real examples from cases they have worked\, and engage each participant to discuss strategies needed to be successful at work. \nConstitutional Policing\nParticipants in this course will discuss and examine the 4th\, 5th\, and 6th amendments in the Constitution. Specifically\, each participant will examine federal\, state\, and local law as it relates to constitutional policing. While examining historical precedent and discussing changes and permutations to the law\, each participant will grasp the law and concepts through a presentation with engaging discussion and hypotheticals. This hands-on approach will allow each participant to understand the law through practical application and approaches. With the legalization of Marijuana\, participants will examine the new law and discuss changes to stop\, search\, and seizure as it relates to traffic stops\, search incident to arrest\, and other law enforcement encounters. \nSession Type:\nIn-person conference \nCancellation Policy:\n\nFull refund available up until 14 days prior to date.\n50% refund available up until 7 days prior to date.\nNo refunds will be made within 7 days of the date.
